Course Information

Nr. Name Type Time Room Lecturer
154154 Language Acquisition 2 HS Mo 14:15 - 15:45 R. 3.206 Vida-Mannl

This class provides students with an overview of various aspects and processes of language acquisition. Specifically, we will focus on (1) second language acquisition and (2) bilingual language acquisition and find similarities and differences at various stages of the acquisition process. In addition to a theoretical overview, we will discuss recent Language Acquisition research focusing on different levels of language, i.e. phonology, morphological/lexical and syntax. The class is designed for students with minimal prior
knowledge as we start with basic assumptions about human language and then move on to assess language acquisition in more depth.
