The seminar focuses on a selection of the most important texts of literary, cultural, and media theory of the twentieth and twenty-first century. We will introduce a different topic each week to cover as many perspectives as possible—from poststructuralism to queer theory, from ethnicity to remediation. Our critical discussion of these demanding texts will be tied to concrete methodological issues in order to show what it means to put these theories to use.
All texts will be provided as a reader.
