Angewandte & Journalism ONLY

These courses are only for Angewandte students (see below for the exact modules). These courses also replace Academic Writing for Journalism students.

This course offers BA/MA Angewandt and Journalism students the opportunity to hone their skills in key aspects of Academic English: Research, writing, presenting, and discussing.

We are interested here in the intersections between theory and fiction, as well as the ways in which what we do and read at university impacts on our perception of the world around us.

For this course, students will be required to read Simon Sellars’s work Applied Ballardianism: Memoir from a Parallel Universe (ISBN 978-0995455078) and one other work by J. G. Ballard (details TBA at the start of the course).

Watch the trailer for Applied Ballardianism (yes, the book has a trailer) here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rR29iTMb0Q8.

The full text of Applied Ballardianism is available through the UB, so you can start reading early.

Course requirements are regular attendance, a presentation, and an essay/project.
