As a postdoctoral scholar in English studies, Dr. Eriko Ogihara-Schuck is currently working on a book on the decolonization discourse in Singapore and Malaysia from the 20th century to the present. Previously, she taught and conducted research in American studies at TU Dortmund from 2005 to 2025. After completing her PhD dissertation in 2011, later published as Miyazaki’s Animism Abroad: The Reception of Japanese Religious Themes by American and German Audiences (McFarland, 2014), she launched a research project on U.S.–Singapore cultural relations. She holds an MA in American Studies from the University of Iowa, USA, and an MA in Education from the University of Tsukuba, Japan.
