Erasmus+ Study Abroad in Europe
The Erasmus+ program is an extensive funding program of the European Union and the largest mobility program at TU Dortmund University. It enables students to spend one or two semesters abroad at a university with which the respective department has a partnership.
Advantages of Erasmus+
Going abroad with the Erasmus+ program has many advantages:
- a full tuition waiver at the host university
- a monthly country-specific Erasmus+ mobility grant
- the opportunity to receive an "Inclusion Top Up" for equal opportuniities
- a grant for travel costs and extra support for those who travel sustainably
- credit recognition for completed classes, as agreed upon in the "Learning Agreement"
- possibility to combine the Erasmus+ mobility grant with AuslandsBAföG or a Deutschlandstipendium
"Lehramt" students may apply for exchange in any of their respective departments, though you may be limited to courses from that field of study while on exchange.
Good to know: For each phase of your studies (Bachelor, Master or PhD) you may receive Erasmus+ funding for up to 12 months, which means that you could theoretically combine Erasmus+ studies with an Erasmus+ internship or blended intensive program (BIP).

Support from the International Office
Our Erasmus+ students are supported in their stay abroad by both the department and TU Dortmund University's International Office. Once you have been selected by your department, the International Office will become your contact for the mobility grant. In their checklist you will find every necessary step from the moment you are selected until you return from your stay abroad.
